Higher Education of Women in England

There is no more interesting chapter in the history of modern education than that which records the movement for the higher education of women. It is impossible here to even touch upon the women's struggle for recognition in the past fifty years. It is the state of the question elsewhere, in particular at Oxford and Cambridge, which is of especial interest just now. The assertion is hardly too sweeping that in both of these places, with the exception of being ineligible for official matriculation into the University and for taking a degree, there is practically no difference between the position of women and that of men.
