The article presents information on the investigation of U.S. Senator Alfonse D'Amato. The Senate Ethics Committee 's complaint contains a litany of charges, the most prominent of which concerns the Republican's alleged use of influence at the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Congressional testimony and media accounts have revealed the exceedingly close ties between HUD-financed projects and D'Amato's contributors and associates. D'Amato has claimed that he never as much as made an inquiry on behalf of any developer in Puerto Rico.
