The article discusses the book "Chaos or Community," by Martin Luther King Jr. In this book, King's was one such voice, which drew upon another to illustrate the debilitating toll of white oppression on black children. The words upon which King drew came from the pen of author W.E.B. Du Bois in manifestation of that great poets scholar's extraordinary ability to evoke stunning images powerful enough to strike deep into souls. King wrote this book to detail what was wrong; namely, that the most unconscionable horror of the U.S. caves does not lie simply in the squalid housing, the woefully inadequate medical facilities, the shockingly inferior educational facilities, the psychological violence of the environment promoting violent response among the caged, the lack of access to cultural institutions, or the absence of a job network system such as those that service communities outside.
