French Foreign Minister Jean-Bernard Raimond, commented that French government doesn't negotiate with kidnappers. He commented on the government's satisfaction over the recent release of two French hostages in Lebanon. Raimond tried his best to convince an increasingly skeptical crowd of the U.S. and British journalists that the twists and turns of recent French Middle East policy obeyed an inner coherence. Normal or not, Raimond's statement indicates yet another turnaround of French public policy.
