The article discusses various issues related with the plan of Governor Charles Evans Hughes for direct nominations of party members in Oregon. In some parts of the U.S. the movement to abolish the nominating delegate, because both his election and his action are controlled by the selfish few, has taken on proportions is called a national activity. Moreover, besides those States in which direct nominations have been made compulsory by law, there are the Southern States, in which the system has been made operative by the voluntary action of the parties.
