This article focuses on the book "A Woman's Impressions of the Philippines," by Mary H. Fee. Eight years intimate association as a schoolmistress with Visayaris at Capiz and Tagélogs in Manila has given the author clearer and deeper insight into the fundamental conceptions and the range of reasoning of those Malays than many an administrative official obtains. The patient and competent explorer gradually penetrates that curious jungle of thought and feeling and by degrees interprets its defective, sometimes inverted, logic, and overcharged emotion.
