This article presents news briefs, related to publication of several books, as of May 19, 2004. George W. Jacobs & Co.. announce the early publication the life of Yoshlo Markino, told by himself, in the book "Japanese Artist in London." With the delicacy and humor that the subject requires, W.H. Helm has written "Jane Austen and Her Country House Comedy." The critical method is that of elimination. One by one, there is a glimpse of the territories that were never annexed to Janeland. They include pretty nearly all the really important classes of English society. The forty brief essays gathered into Hilaire Belloc's "On Everything," represent the fine flower of literary journalism in England.
