The article discusses the condition of the music industry in the New York. It also discusses two books related to music and musicians. It states that the situation shows conclusively that New York has had too much music during the last six months. Musicians need not be alarmed for conditions were exceptional and will not be the same next season. For three years this city was able to support two opera houses in addition to the usual number of concerts. Trouble came when both the opera companies nearly doubled the number of their performances and the Philharmonic Orchestra at the same time gave considerably more than twice the usual number of concerts.
