The article presents information on the books "England in the Sudan," by Yacoub Pasha Artin, "Egypt: Ancient Sites and Modern Scenes," by Gaston Maspero and "Oriental Cairo, the City of the Arabian Nights," by Douglas Sladen. The book by Pasha Artin is a record of his impression of the journey he made to Egyptian Sudan. This record of his impressions on that journey is a translation of the letters which he wrote daily to his wife in Cairo. Gaston Maspero's book is of a very different sort. It is journalism of a high class, impressions of modern Egypt, caught by a great Egyptologist on his official progresses up and down the river, and thrown into charming literary form.
