The proposal to continue the corporate existence of the War Finance Corporation as an aid in financing the readjustment of business to a peace basis suggests the complex problems involved in the restoration of normal conditions. As an emergency expedient, the War Finance Corporation has never exerted the influence in the motley market that those in favor of the law supposed it would exercise. The corporation has loaned $71,-385,000 since it was formed several months ago. Altogether $68,217,000 was advanced directly to various war industries, enabling many companies to do efficient work on war contracts.
