The article presents information about various books related to science. Wonderful progress made in the science of genetics during the last three years makes it almost obligatory for an author to rewrite a general treatise on the subject as presented in 1909. William Bateson frankly admits in a note to the third impression, printed in 1913, of his book on "Mendel's Principles of Heredity." Written as an obvious protest against the modern methods of teaching botany, F.L. Sargent's "Plants and Their Uses: An Introduction to Botany" presents a curious and perhaps helpful point of view.
