The sixty-seventh annual report of the director of Harvard College Observatory notes the retirement of professor Arthur Searle, after an effective service of forty-three years. Dr. Philip Hanson Hiss, professor of bacteriology in the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University, who died last week.
