This article presents information related to books on Italian history. The books includes: "Vittorio Emanuele, Garibaldi, Cavour nei fasti della Partia," by G.E. Curatulo; and "Memorie del Risorgimento dal 1848 al 1862," by Giovanni Cadolini. Cadolini first joined volunteers in his native town of Cremona when seventeen years old, on the out-break of the revolutionary war of 1848, and took part in various engagements. After Italian defeats in the north, he joined Giaconio Medici's force and hurried to Rome, where he served in the memorable defence of the city in 1849. His account of the siege is one of the most interesting parts of the volume, although it tells little that is new.
