The report that certain international financial interests have for some time been exerting themselves to bring about peace and have been holding secret meetings in Switzerland for that purpose, has again attracted public attention in England. The matter obtained contained the following statement: It is learned from an unimpeachable source that the secret conference of international financiers which recently took place in Switzerland was inspired by somewhat different motives from, those which were ascribed to it at the time. Acting purely in the interests of the great capitalists of all countries, it aimed, above all, at an immediate peace such as would arrest the growth of international Socialism and the rising tide of revolution throughout Europe.
