The article presents information related to two books "Studies in Water Supply," by A.C. Houston and "Catskill Water Supply of New York City," by Lazarus White. These two books exhibit, in the one case, the most advanced sanitary treatment of public water supplies, and in the other case probably the greatest undertaking in the world for the supply of water to a single community, the latter being characterized by the highest excellence known to the engineering profession in the whole range of constructions required in the completed work.
