The article focuses on the book "Lord Lister," by Rickman John Godlee. The biography of Lord Lister, by his nephew, Rickman John Godlee, presents a record of value to two classes of readers: those interested in him as a man and those interested in him chiefly as a surgeon and investigator. As, however, Lister's life was not marked by many striking events aside from those which have influenced medicine, it is to the medical and scientific world that the volume has its greatest appeal. To the average individual Lister is known as a successful English surgeon, who first introduced into surgery what is now known as the antiseptic method.
