The article focuses on the importance of maternity insurance in the United States. The ideal maternity insurance, considered, of course, from a purely medical point of view, should cover both the married and the unmarried woman, and should provide two expert examinations, one at the third and one at the seventh month before confinement, and should furnish pre and post-puerperal care as long as required. If the prospective mother wishes to obtain the benefit of her insurance, she should be not only allowed but obliged to report her condition at least within the first three months of her pregnancy.
