This article focuses on the book "Publications of the Princeton University Archaeological Expeditions to Syria in 1904-1905 and 1909," by Howard Crosby Butler. The book deals with the ruins at Sī in the Hauran, Syria. The chief importance of the site lies in the fact that the remains discovered there, which can be accurately dated, constitute the finest known example of the so-called Nabaean architecture. A French explorer visited the place in 1861 and even, his necessarily hasty examination of the ruin sufficed to show its unique significance and to identify the most important building in the great complex.
