This article presents developments related to the U.S. politics. U.S. Senator James Hamilton Lewis, who has been in France on some sort of Government business, gave out a breakfast-table interview last week to an American newspaper correspondent on the things that might be expected to happen in American politics during the next two years. There will be three "big issues" before the country in 1920. The U.S. Department of Labor announces that a shortage of labor in war industries is gravely curtailing the production of needed supplies, and that unless the difficulty is quickly remedied there will be a serious lack of equipment for the army under the new program. The report of the Senate sub-committee on the aircraft scandal is certainly depressing reading. No more damning exposure of incompetency, extravagance, and favoritism has been made in the history.
