The article focuses on the book "Museum Ideals of Purpose and Method," by Benjamin Ives Gilman. The work is in two main parts. Part one, in its essence, is a reaction from standards of criticism too often prevalent in academic circles as well as in those of the profession. Part two is intended particularly for those interested in or connected with museum work. In the last section are discussions of various details of management and policy, external and internal, from the museum docent to the question of admission fees.
