This article presents information related to literature. Readers of the portrait sketches of men and women in the public eye that have been appearing in the journal "The Nation" for three years will be glad to have them in the convenient form of a volume. American journalism is unfortunately lacking in the interesting and illuminating character-and-anecdote vignette of which the book "National Miniatures" is so excellent an example. There are plenty of histories of India, but few are in the tradition that was set by William Hunter, and is now being well maintained by scholars like Vincent Smith.
