This article presents information related to politics. The book "The Education of Henry Adams," just issued for the public is one of the great autobiographies of literature. Originally privately printed in an edition of one hundred copies for friends, the rumor spread that Henry Adams had decided to destroy it. Fortunately, Adams came to the proper decision and, after the editorship of Henry Cabot Lodge, the book appears under the aegis of the Massachusetts Historical Society to delight this and future generations. It is true that until one studies the records of four generations of the remarkable Adams family, one cannot take full measure of the significance and romance of political development in the U.S.
