This article presents information about the book "On Contemporary Literature," by Stuart P. Sherman. The book contains Sherman's collected appraisements of certain contemporary writers. Sherman is possessed of very definite ideas for which he is ready to do battle on the instant with all corners. Sherman's distinction as a critic is that his criticism has for its basis a definite philosophy of life. In the welter of mere aesthetic preferences, this critic offers a rounded, reasoned scheme of values and standards.
