Lawson, member of the International Executive Board of the United Mine Workers of America, guilty of murder in the first degree, the killing in question being that of deputy sheriff at Ludlow, on October 25, 1913. In Pennsylvania the passing of a bill in the Senate related to child labor has boosted the power of public opinion in affecting legislation in the U.S. As far as the nation's foreign relation is concerned Germany has become a cause for worry.
