The article presents the announcement made by U.S. President Woodrow Wilson on the control of railways by the government. The Railway men, from the chief executives down to the day laborer, were dazed by the overnight change to the government operation. Nearly half a month has now elapsed since President Wilson's proclamation was issued. One of the first steps taken by William G. McAdoo, the newly appointed Director-General of railways, was to cancel all existing priority orders for the movement of freight.
