Dionysus in Camp

The article focuses on the religious aspects of the war. More people are thronging cathedrals of Europe now than in the piping times of peace. More men including major-generals and clergy in high places assure that the God is on people's side, and more of them have the will to believe in them. The question of what the God is doing in the Great War is sadly puzzling simple-minded folk and troubling sensitive minds. There are still the two ideas: God the Judge and Avenger, who shall punish enemies; God the suffering Redeemer.
