Stimson, Henry Lewis | January 3, 1918 issue

The article focuses on Henry Lewis Stimson, who volunteer as an officer in the reserve corps of the Judge Advocate General of the Army. Stimson was a soldier when he first loomed into public view nearly a dozen years. He was then practicing law in the firm founded by Elihu Root. He went to Washington for purpose of having business. After two years Stimson became a member of the real Cabinet. As Secretary of war, he put the finishing touches on many important things and also set the pace for late comers in the same place.
