The article focuses on two books "Pros and Cons in the Great War," by Leonard A. Magnus and "Out of Their Own Mouths." In this country the backgrounds of the war have not yet been brought close enough to the minds of the people. There are still many who know little about the causes of the struggle, the characteristics of Germany at present, or why they entered the conflict. With some, it is lack of opportunity for knowledge; with others, indifference. Some are shallow of heart; others shallow of mind. It is not long since a scholar publicly asserted that he saw little difference between British blockade and German submarine terror.
