The article presents information on the Canadian statesmen Wilfrid Laurier. Laurier Canada's "Grand Old Man," of age, a French-Canadian by birth, a Catholic by religion-dangerous facts in a war year when the campaign is running along racial lines and the question of war-time efficiency is to the fore. But when he offered his resignation to his party associates the other day it was indignantly declined amid evidences of affection and goodwill to hearten the most indifferent. When Laurier reached Quebec for the first time after issuing his campaign manifesto the crowd of enthusiastic supporters gathered to meet him was so large and so insistent as all but to imperil the safety of the man they acclaimed.
