The article discusses the calm life of hinterland away from big cities and towns. A shabby man was carrying a bundle and smiling a dumb smile at a small boy with a stick of candy. They reached Vesey Street, where their ship was awaiting them. There were still many formalities. The family was grateful and glad to talk. When the man was questioned that why did he leave a country of plenty and freedom and liberty and democratic institutions. He was asked that why is returning back to his life of poverty and hardships. The man replied that he lived in a factory town and there are no such freedom and liberty there.
