The American Association of University Professors, whose second annual meeting is to be held early in January 1916, has before it a problem upon whose solution may very possibly depend, in considerable measure, the future usefulness of the organization. Those who were privileged to participate in the first meeting of the Association, last January, could hardly have failed to watch the course of discussion with mixed emotions. Men and women from several institutions, and representing the various departments of learning, often did not know one another, and had to identify themselves when they rose to address the chair.
