Volumes on South America

This article focuses on three books related to South America "Selling Latin America: A Problem in International Salesmanship," by William E. Aughinbaugh, "A Guide to South America," by W.A. Hirst and "The Argentine in the Twentieth Century," by Albert B. Martinez and Maurice Lewandowski. Aughinbaugh does not approach his subject in the first half of the book, which consists of summary descriptions of the different countries. The remainder of the book has chapters on business methods and organization, on trade regulations and commercial policy. Hirst's book is a welcome addition to the general guidebooks on South America. The writer has travelled extensively, has read widely, and has supplemented the information which he has by much that he has obtained from consular officials.
