The article focuses on one of the five subcommittees appointed by the Republicans to "probe" the War Department which has been digging into the matter of the $200,000,000 worth of surplus army foodstuffs which were rigidly kept off the domestic market for six months after the signing of the armistice. This subcommittee was successful in uncovering some very shady ways in which the War Department has handled its surplus food problem. The packers and canners were asked to keep the food off the domestic market to protect their business.
