The article presents information about several books on war and peace. "The Free Man and the Soldier," by Ralph Barton Perry. "The War and the Soul," by B. S. Campbell. "War, Peace, and the Future," by Ellen Key. "Questions of War and Peace," by L.T. Hobhouse. The book by Perry consists of essays that appeared in various periodicals, and its aim is to sketch, at least in outline, an answer to the two great questions of the times, "First, how shall one be secure and yet peaceful? Second, how shall we, act in concert and yet remain free individuals?" In Hobhouse's opinion the alliances of the European Powers, far from being a probable source of future wars, the to be regarded as the most practicable means of ending war. Arbitration treaties are of but little value in his opinion, and the proposed League to Enforce Peace gives not much better Promise.
