The report that senator Frank Harris Hitchcock might have been named for the position now filled by William R. Willcox as conductor-in-chief of the senator Charles E. Hughes campaign, but spoiled his chances by talking too much, lays a severe tax upon the credulity of any one who knows Mr. Hitchcock. He has always had among his friends a reputation for keeping his own counsel with a strictness which is occasionally disconcerting to them. With him politics is a serious business rather than a social game, but what lie lacks in effervescence of demeanor he makes up by a faithful memory of names and faces.
