The following appeal for the reunion of Cyprus with Greece appeared in London, England-based "The Times," of July 21, 1919 on the self determination of Cyprus. Cyprus was occupied by Great Britain on July 12, 1878. The occupation was effected by virtue of a Convention of Defensive Alliance between Great Britain and Turkey, dated June 4, 1878, and an Annex to the Convention imposed on England the obligation to evacuate Cyprus in the event of the restoration to Turkey by Russia of Kars and the other conquests made by her in Armenia during the Russo-Turkish War.
