The article presents information on the book "My Memoir," by Alfred von Tirpitz. The purpose which inspired the "Memoirs" of Tirpitz has been stated by himself in the preface. The book is thus an apology for Germany as against the Entente, particularly Great Britain. But it is also an apology for Tirpitz and the naval policy as against those who would maintain that the naval policy, by antagonizing Great Britain, helped to produce the war. The first volume deals with the period preceding the war; the second with the war itself.
