In this article, the author focuses on the Society of American Singers with evaluating some of their recent music performances and records. He first considers the opera "Ruddigore." The Society of American Singers, which began its first season so successfully with opera comique has ended its third lesson equally successfully with comic opera. The transition to William Schwenck Gilbert and Arthur Seymour Sullivan, suggestively, cannot be said to have necessitated any lowering of standards, as the works of these two embody the comic spirit of their age and nationality. The author focuses on the artistic blends of various other noted composers such as G.B. Pergolesi, W.A. Mozart, and Jacques Offenbach.
