The article presents information on several dramas. The outburst of theatric activity that marked the end of the year was a little mad. On a given evening there were no less than eight premieres in New York. As one gradually succeeded in looking at these various offerings it became clear that their general level of excellence was noticeably higher than in former years. There was nothing quite debased and absurd. There were only two plays that had anything like artistic or intellectual distinction. These were "The Tidings Brought to Mary," produced by the Theater Guild at the Garrick, and "Will Shakespeare," produced by Winthrop Ames at the National Theater.
