This article presents information about political developments related to the U.S. as of February 2, 1921. Appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on January 19, Attorney General A. Mitchell Palmer was asked in regard to charges made against his administration, especially those of twelve eminent lawyers against his handling of alien radicals. The American Red Cross ceased work in Soviet Russia in 1918 because of the Allied blockade. The manifestations of Japanese imperialism to which the war has given rise have aroused widespread distrust quite aside from the particular questions affecting directly the relations between the United States and the emperor Mikado's realm.
