The uneasy days that have come to France on the crest of the reactionary wave have given new strength to protests of the other France. It is the failure of the Ruhr occupation, the financial demoralization, the economic crisis and the isolation of France have reacted most strongly upon workers, peasants and the small business men. Hard times are swelling the volume of protest. The situation in France is still so unformed that it is difficult to trace the significant tendencies in it. Unions are concentrating a good part of their attack against the Government upon this issue.
