International war, revolution, civil war, invasion, the blockade, and the famine combined to disorganize Russian economic life so completely that in 1919-1920 the total output of big industry had fallen to 511 million gold rubles or 14.6 per cent of the pre-war figure. This proved to be the low point in Russian production. The three subsequent years show a steady improvement. The improvement in production is not confined to any particular economic group, although it varies considerably from one group to another.
