Radio Control

Radio broadcasting should be absolutely free in every respect from control by any private corporation. It is not free today. A successful broadcasting station must employ at times the use of telephone lines to broadcast from points distant to the transmitting station. This is technically known as remote control. Government control should be had by establishing in each area comparatively strong stations, such as the municipal broadcasting station which has just been put in operation in New York City, and by cutting out poorer and weaker stations which broadcast inferior programs. In the present development of broadcasting, freedom is greatly to be desired, but in any event the exercise of control must be by the government, not by any private corporation or combination of corporations.
