New Jersey likes Governor Al Smith. Separated from sidewalks of New York only by the breadth of the many-tunneled Hudson, Jerseymen, too, have come under the spell of the hero of Oliver Street. They are familiar with the Governor's administrative record. Governor Smith's intelligent interest in bridge and tunnel construction, as well as in other of the Port Authority's major schemes, has impressed Jerseymen with his capacity, his far-sightedness, and his square dealing. Then, too, New Jersey has a big commuter vote that follows Wall Street.
