This article presents information on the book "When a Man Comes to Himself," by Ray Stannard Baker, written on former U.S. President Woodrow Wilson. His academic pursuits and his preparation for them, can follow with the sympathy and experience of a colleague, and for that reason, the author was particularly interested in Ray Stannard Baker's recently published volumes on Wilson's early years. However effective the written phrase of Wilson was the added effect of its delivery remains as his address as president of the American Association of American Universities. The story of Wilson's career is familiar: his ancestors on both sides with their passion for education, his deep family affection, poverty enough to make opportunities esteemed, a religious setting that made serious thinking natural, a determination and an encouragement to make his way to a significant life.
