This article focuses on the books related to American government. The books are "Introduction to American Government, An " by Frederic A. Ogg and P. Orman Ray. and "State Government," by Walter F. Dodd. The author says that these two volumes in the Century Political Science Series are outstanding contributions to the literature of government. The larger, dealing with all aspects of American government, national, State, and local, runs to over 800 pages, Professor Dodd's book to nearly 600 pages. In books which perforce deal with a mass of detailed fact, minute distinctions, and contemporary changes, there is an unusual and gratifying amount of able,, thoughtful criticism of the processes--or phenomena--of national and local government.
