The article presents discussion on various books. The books are: "From a Southern Porch" by the author Dorothy Scarborough; "American Foreign Trade" by the author Charles M. Pepper; "Byzance: Grandeur et décadence" by the author Charles Diehl; and "The Matrix" by the author Maria Thompson Daviess. "American Foreign Trade" presents in an interesting way the leading principles and facts of foreign trade in general, and American foreign trade in particular. The trade policies of various countries are described at length, and there is a good résumé of their resources.
