The article focuses on Burton K. Wheeler, who has been elected as the Senator from Montana. Defeated for the governorship two years ago by 40,000 votes, chiefly because of his connection with the Nonpartisan League and his alleged seditious attitude while serving as the U.S. District Attorney in Butte, Montana, during the war, Wheeler has just been elected the U.S. Senator from Montana by a comfortable majority. Wheeler, who for twelve years has been a successful lawyer in Butte, has been conspicuously a friend of the working people. His career, professional and official, has been a vigorous one, combated at every step by the powerful mining interests of the State. Yet in the discharge of every duty he has established more and more firmly his absolute fearlessness and independence.
