Consider Iceland!

It is not yet three years since Iceland achieved its sovereignty; and too early therefore to detail what freedom has brought "the Fair Mountain Lady," as the Icelanders like to call their country, aside from the satisfaction, which they feel in virtually regaining their ancient liberties after seven centuries of foreign rule. The leisurely Icelandic Bureau of Statistics has not issued its report for 1919, the first year of independence, so one cannot say whether it has paid in crowns an ore and nobody much cares. One thing is certain, however, Iceland has made its peace with Denmark.
