The article presents an overview of the book "The History of Art," by Elie Faure and translated by Walter Pach. During the past three years these volumes, long well known in France, have been appearing in Mr. Pach's vivid translation. Each has been met with generous praise, and the series, now completed, seems on the verge of becoming a popular classic. Before it is thus placed safely out of reach there is need for a general estimate, a little calmer perhaps than was possible during the first excitement it aroused by its unusual eloquence.
